Creepy Contaminants
Candy bags and wrappers are all creepy contaminants in our recycling stream. Treat your cart right and only recycle accepted items. Refer to the list on the back of your recycling calendar mailed in early October.

Loose Leaves
Starting November 7, we’ll collect loose leaves from your street twice before Christmas at no charge according to the schedule mailed in early October. Place leaves along the curb by 7 a.m. on the first day of collection for your area. Piles should be out of the street, away from mailboxes and fire hydrants and off storm drains to prevent clogging or impacting water quality. As always, throughout the year you can place leaves curbside in reusable containers or brown paper bags for weekly yard waste collection.

Aquastar Enhancements

Over the next few weeks as you log into Aquastar, you may notice several small but helpful enhancements to ensure you are using water wisely. Thanks to popular demand, you'll have the opportunity to link up to five email addresses to one consumption alert. Additionally, if you have multiple utility services with the Town, you’ll notice each service is labeled with its individual meter number to distinguish it.  Finally, and thanks to emerging technologies, you’ll see a more accurate view of your consumption with the system now displaying in 10-gallon increments.

Aquastar is our advanced meter infrastructure system that replaced monthly manual meter reads with a wireless system that collects multiple remote meter reads per day. The portal allows residential and commercial utility customers to view their water, irrigation and reclaim consumption on a monthly, weekly, daily and hourly basis and set corresponding  consumption alerts. The Aquastar portal is housed within DigiPay, our online utility payments center. As always, we’ll continue protecting the privacy of utility customer information according to all state and federal laws.

Cary Utilities Top Rated

Recently we learned that our Town is one of 10 issuers across the U.S. that’s received AAA ratings from all three rating agencies for both general obligation and revenue bonds. While there are several issuers who have AAA ratings from two agencies, the coveted “triple triple A” rating from all three agencies for both general obligation and revenue bonds is rare indeed.

Keep the Falls Out of Fall

From gutters that need to be cleaned of leaves to holiday decorations to be hung, there are plenty of opportunities for us to drag out our ladders this fall. Before you climb, remember these tips to help keep you safe:

  • Use your ladder only on dry, level ground.
  • Have someone hold the ladder when you are working from it.
  • Maintain at least three points of contact with the ladder when you are climbing.
  • keep your torso centered between the rails, and never reach out. Rather, dismount the ladder and reposition it.
  • Avoid working from the top three rungs of extension ladders.
  • Avoid working from the top step or above on stepladders.

Stay safe and leave the falling for the leaves!
