Townwide Reverse 911 Test

We’re gearing up to launch our first townwide test of ReadyWake, Wake County’s real-time call  notification system. It’s not too late to be a part of this test; visit www.readywake.com to register. In addition to this system test in October, we’ll use the system to notify our subscribers when there’s a threat to life, health or property including hazmat situations, urgent information related to police, fire or public health, water main breaks or other utility information such as boil water notices. The system is open to all who live in a municipality that’s either all or partially within the county, including our town. Sign up by October 1 to receive our test call.

Celebrating 62 Spots in Five Years!
In the fall of 2011, we launched the Adopt a Spot program to help keep Cary clean and forever green. Since then we’ve had the enormous pleasure of working with more than 7,000 volunteers to collect over 53,000 pounds of litter from adopted spots Townwide! Schools, greenways, streets and parks are just some of the spots that have been claimed by businesses, religious groups, families and other volunteers. Help us celebrate this anniversary and grow the program far into the future.

Stormwater
Smart fertilizing helps keep our lawns lush and our streams healthy. By following manufacturer guidelines and sweeping excess fertilizer off hard surfaces and back on to lawns, we help keep additional nutrients out of our streams and creeks.

Got Cardboard?
Recycling carts overstuffed with cardboard can jam or prevent the cart from emptying into our trucks. Flatten and cut large cardboard items to easily fit them in you cart or, if you have too much, call to schedule a free cardboard collection.

Don’t Wait - Check the Date!

Did you know that even smoke alarms have an expiration date? Smoke alarms should be replaced 10  years from the date of manufacture. Check the back of each alarm for the date since each one may be different. Then, push the test button on the front of the alarm to make sure your alarm is functional. If your alarm is out of date or doesn’t alarm when you test it, replace it with a new alarm as soon as possible. Cary FD reminds you October 9-14 is Fire Prevention Week.
