Downtown Park and Streetscape Info Workshop Announced

We’re in the planning and design phases of two exciting downtown projects adjacent to the Cary Arts Center. Join us from 5 to 7:30 P.M. on September 24th for a public information workshop at Herb Young Community Center to view current design options.

The downtown park will provide a green space that complements the larger downtown, surrounding neighborhoods and Academy Street improvements. The park’s final amenities and ultimate size is being guided by the Town Council in a series of work sessions with staff and consultants.

The Academy Street Improvements Project will create a visually enhanced street section of Academy Street and Dry Avenue in the area between Chatham Street and Walnut Street. Planned improvements include a “raised table” intersection at Chatham and Academy Streets, and a “street plaza” treatment at the Dry Avenue and  Academy Street intersection. These streets will receive upgraded sidewalks, special lighting and street furniture, historical markers, additional street trees and other landscaping.

Election Day is October 8

On October 8, Cary voters will elect Town Council members for one At-Large seat, District A and District C as well as Wake County Board of Education members representing Cary.

You may cast your ballot early by going to the Wake County Board of Elections office or the Chatham County Board of Elections office, depending on your address.

Early voting is held during regular business hours at the county board of elections offices. Additional early voting sites may be added closer to the election.

“Same day” registration is available at early voting sites only and is not permitted on Election Day.

To view your voter registration status and sample ballots, Cary voters in Wake County should visit www.wakegov.com/elections or call (919) 856-6240.

Navigating Roundabouts

When approaching the roundabout, slow down, yield to pedestrians and bicyclists, then yield to circulating traffic. Remember, once you enter the roundabout, you have the right of way. Next, use your right-turn signal to indicate your intention to exit.

No Digital? No Cary TV!

If you watch Cary TV via Time Warner Cable, things could change for you on October 8. That’s the day TWC plans to convert Cary TV and several other channels from an analog signal to digital. So, if you still use an analog TV, contact TWC now to get a adaptor.

Fall Litter Sweep

Our fifth annual Fall Litter Sweep is October 5. Help continue our efforts to keep Cary clean and forever green by joining an organized sweep or gathering a group to sweep your own neighborhood. We give you the supplies and tools, and when you’re done, we’ll pick up the trash and recycling bags.
