Hometown Spirit Nominees Wanted!

Do you know a Cary citizen who embodies the Town's spirit? Let us know! We are accepting nominations for our Hometown Spirit Award from August 25 through September 22. Nominees must be age 21 or older and should demonstrate qualities like helping neighbors, showing hospitality, promoting a sense of community, or displaying patriotism. A panel will select the winner after the nomination period ends. The top three nominees will be recognized at a reception and the winner will be announced in November. An evening of stories with Sam Pearsall, Willa Brigham, Alan Hoal, and Linda Gorman. Refreshments are included in this adults' night out. Tickets are $20 at The Cary Theater or online at eTix.

Cary Live
September 10, 7-9 p.m. | Old Library Site
River Whyless brings their folk rock sound to downtown Cary. Food trucks and local breweries will be on site starting at 6 p.m. Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed, but outside alcohol is not permitted. Bring a chair (a limited number of low-level lawn chairs will be available).

Marvelous Music Mainstage Series: Susan Werner

Fit Cary: Get, Be, Stay Fit!
September is Fit Cary Month and we are celebrating all the ways to get, be, and stay healthy in Cary! Join us for activities all month designed to help you and your family develop and maintain a healthy and enriched lifestyle.

Winter Youth Basketball Registration
September 12-October 2

2022 Atlantic Tire Championships

Fall Landscaping with My Tree, Our Tree
It may be the dog days of summer, but it’s a good time to start thinking about fall landscaping. Consider using organic lawn care techniques with suggestions and resources found at townofcary.org/landscaping or identify a location in your yard to plant a free native tree provided through Cary's My Tree, Our Tree giveaway. Registration opens Thursday, September 15, at 9 a.m. at myCary.org. For details, visit townofcary.org/MyTreeOurTree.

Turn Your Food Waste into Compost
Corn cobs, melon rinds, meat bones, and unusable leftovers...Make a habit to collect food scraps from those backyard cookouts and picnics and bring it to the pilot food waste recycling drop-off at the Citizen’s Convenience Center, 313 N. Dixon Ave. Material accepted is turned into compost and kept out of the landfill. See a full list of accepted material at townofcary.org/foodwaste.

Cary CERT Basic Course
September 30, 6:30 p.m.–9 p.m.
October 1-2, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
The Cary Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) host a free course with the Cary Fire Department. This training serves as an introduction to the CERT program and disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, and medical care. In addition, you will learn about the Cary CERT and ways to get involved with educational initiatives and making your community more resilient in the event of natural disasters and other emergencies. Fire Station Garden Workdays
September 10-14
