Holiday Collection Week of July 4
Curbside waste, recycling and yard waste collections move one day later this week. The Citizen’s Convenience Center is closed on Monday, July 4.

No After-hours Dropoff
If the Citizen’s Convenience Center is closed, please consider other waste and recycling drop-off options. Search your item in the Cary Collects Waste Wizard at townofcary.org/collects, find alternate drop-off locations near you, or plan to visit the center during normal operation hours. Never leave materials outside the gates of the Center. This is considered illegal dumping and unsafe for others and the environment.

Bring it to the Drop-Off!
Divert your household food waste from the landfill and return it to the earth as valuable compost through the pilot food waste recycling drop-off. Bring food scraps and other accepted materials directly to the Citizen’s Convenience Center at 313 N. Dixon Ave. and toss them in the designated carts. All material collected will be turned into compost by a local facility, some of which will be returned to the earth at Good Hope Farm. This service is open to Cary residents only; commercial interests are not accepted. Learn more about the accepted materials at townofcary.org/foodwaste

Disposal Do's

  • Furniture: If it can’t be reused, safely dispose of an old couch or other piece of furniture at our Citizen’s Convenience Center. To request a bulky item pickup, dial 311 inside Town limits or (919) 469-4000 outside Cary, or online at services.townofcary.org. Fees may apply.
  • Cardboard: Flatten and cut to fit in your recycling cart. Remove tape and other packaging such as air pillows and foam. Can't fit it all? To request free excess cardboard collection, dial 311 inside Town limits or (919) 469-4000 outside Cary, or online at services.townofcary.org
  • Yard Waste: As yard work ramps up, the Citizen's Convenience Center is ready to accept your yard waste! Remove and dispose all trash from your yard waste before dumping. Search more items for disposal options using the Waste Wizard feature in Cary Collects at townofcary.org/collects

Pet Waste Etiquette
Rain can wash pet waste that is left on the ground into nearby streams. When you bag your dog’s waste and throw it in the trash, you help reduce stormwater pollution. Find more ways to keep our waterways healthy at townofcary.org/stormwater

Quality on Tap

Cary provides high-quality, safe, and reliable drinking water that meets or exceeds state and federal regulatory standards. Our latest annual Water Quality Report shares the results of over 450,000 tests done in 2021 that confirm the exceptional quality of your drinking water.

This year’s report announces the availability of a virtual tour, the installation of new ozone generators, and the receipt of the President’s Award of recognition from the Partnership for Safe Drinking Water.

Find the report online at waterreport.townofcary.org or request a copy by calling 311 inside Town limits or (919) 469-4000 outside Cary.
