This Month's Headlines:

Much to Celebrate

Party, Treats for 150!

Who's ready to party? Cary's 150th anniversary is one of the biggest celebrations we've ever had, and we're pulling out all the stops. Join us on S. Academy Street on the evenings of Saturday, July 24 and Saturday, July 31 as we look back on our history, acknowledge our present, and dream about the future. The street will be lined with food trucks, entertainment, lounge areas, and a few surprises. Once the sun goes down, turn your attention to the Cary Arts Center for a once-in-a-lifetime projection show!

And, what comes with every birthday celebration? Treats! From July 24 to August 1, participating Cary bakeries will have sweet offerings exclusively for the Town's 150th anniversary. Track every delicious bite by taking a photo with your purchase. Then, post it to social media with the hashtag #Cary150.

We look forward to seeing you for the biggest celebration of the year! Visit www.cary150.org for all the details.

Independence Day

Join us July 4 at Koka Booth Amphitheatre as we celebrate America's birthday with patriotic performances and fireworks! Look for more details at www.boothamphitheatre.com.

And, to receive the latest information about Town events and news, sign up for email communication at www.townofcary.org/email.

Greenway Art

Check out the latest infusion of public art along Cary’s greenways. Local artist Lisa Gaither recently completed beautiful murals on both sides of the White Oak Creek Greenway tunnel at Davis Drive Park. The artist drew inspiration from local flora and fauna, as well as from greenway users. There's something for everyone in it!

The greenway tunnel passes under an active rail line along the seven-mile White Oak Creek Greenway that stretches from Bond Park to the American Tobacco Trail.

Walk, bike or roll over to see this inspiring new addition to Cary’s greenway system. And, see more of Lisa's story at www.townofcary.org/publicart.

Quality on Tap

Cary provides high quality, safe, and reliable drinking water that meets or exceeds state and federal regulatory standards. Our latest Annual Water Quality Report shares the results of over 450,000 tests done in 2020 that confirm the exceptional quality of your drinking water.

Also included are descriptions of how we continue to foster a resilient system by securing an adequate water supply and maintaining and building our utility infrastructure for today and the future.

You can find the report online at waterreport.townofcary.org or request a copy by dialing 3-1-1 inside Town limits or(919) 469-4000 outside Cary.

Cary It Green

Holiday Collection Week of July 4
Curbside waste, recycling and yard waste collections move one day later this week. The Citizen’s Convenience Center is closed on Sunday, July 4 and open regular hours on Monday, July 5.

Fats, Oils & Grease (FOG)
Fire up the grill or deep fryer safely! Properly and easily dispose of any cooking fats, oils and grease (FOG) through the Town's Residential Cooking Oil Curbside Collection and Recycling Program. Simply place cooled, used cooking oil and grease in a plastic screwtop food container. Once at least a half-gallon (approximately one two-liter soda bottle) is collected, properly label the container “used cooking oil” and call 311 to schedule a free curbside pickup. Simply dial 3-1-1 anywhere within Town limits or (919) 469-4000 outside Cary. Did you know? Used cooking oil is recycled into clean burning biofuel.

Help Keep Cary Clean and Forever Green!
Volunteers are needed to help remove litter from our streets, trails, parks, and other public spaces. Gather as a group, or sign up as an individual -- it's easy! Complete and submit an online form to receive your Litter Collection Kit and, then, start beautifying! Visit www.townofcary.org/spruce for complete details.

Excess Cardboard
Flatten and/or cut boxes to fit in your recycling cart with the lid closed. Avoid cramming so all recyclables can empty into our trucks. If you have more boxes than will fit in your cart, drop your recyclables off at the Citizen’s Convenience Center located at 313 N. Dixon Avenue. You may also request a free cardboard collection at services.townofcary.org or by dialing 3-1-1 anywhere within Town limits or (919) 469-4000 outside Cary.

Pet Waste Etiquette
Rain can wash pet waste that is left on the ground into nearby streams. When you bag your dog’s waste and throw it in the trash, you help reduce stormwater pollution. You can find more ways to keep our waterways healthy at www.townofcary.org/stormwater.

Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources, Programs & Facilities
