Cary Dog Daze and Pet Expo

Join Cary Animal Services at the Pet Expo. Free rabies shots and microchips provided while supplies last. The American Kennel Club will be on hand for canine good citizen and trick dog testing. 7th Annual Fest in the West

International Compost Awareness Week
May 7-13 | Cary composts! Turning food scraps into compost helps reduce landfill waste and creates a valuable soil amendment. Using compost to amend the soil helps improve soil quality and plant growth. Dig deeper into composting this spring and:

  • Bring your foods scraps to the food waste recycling drop-off at the Citizen's Convenience Center, 313 N Dixon Ave. Accepted items include raw and cooked meats, veggies, fruits, and more. carync.gov/foodwaste
  • Visit the Compost Education Center in Bond Park and enjoy a self-guided tour.

Spring Cleaning & Your Household Hazardous Waste
Keep household hazardous waste (HHW) such as old paint, pesticides, and other toxic, corrosive, or flammable products out of garbage and recycling carts, storm drains, and streams. Wake County citizens can dispose of HHW at the South Wake HHW Collection Center, 6150 Old Smithfield Road; Chatham County citizens can take advantage of county collection events, visit carync.gov/collects
