This Month's Headlines:

Continued Vision for Downtown Park

Construction of the next phase of the Downtown Park will soon be underway! Over the next several months, the canopy will begin to change and transform as we introduce over 400 shade, evergreen, and ornamental trees spanning over 30 different native species. Additionally, other green storm water landscaping will emerge to enhance environmental preservation.

Other exciting amenities in the design include active performance places, farmers market spaces, public art installations, botanical gardens showcasing native plants, food and beverage facilities, a children’s nature play area, a dog park, a pond, and an elevated sky walk. In addition, the Downtown Park will serve as an activity hub for programming such as art exhibitions, arts and crafts classes, performances and concerts, fitness classes, book clubs, story time programs, and movies.

We are exited to give you a front row seat to watch the park spring to life. We have remained firmly committed to crafting the park that you asked for and, while we build it, we hope you see how great this public space will be now and for decades to come!

Congrats in Order to Cary Fire Department

The Cary Fire Department has been awarded its fifth consecutive accreditation by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).The announcement follows a comprehensive voluntary process that includes self assessment and independent review of the department’s service delivery and internal performance. Through accreditation, fire and emergency service organizations examine past, current, and future service levels and performance and compare them to industry best practices.

Originally accredited in 1999, the Cary Fire Department is one of about 250 fire/rescue agencies in the world to achieve accredited status.

The Cary Fire Department is comprised of 239 fulltime employees with a fleet of 29 primary and reserve vehicles available to respond as needed.

Congratulations and thank you for your service!

How Cary Came to Be

From trains to technology, the area where Cary stands today was originally inhabited by Tuscarora Native Americans. Through the visionary leadership of people such as Allison “Frank” Page and others, our town has grown from a bustling railroad stop between Raleigh and Durham to a diverse, connected community of over 170,000 residents. The decisions of our past and current leaders have created the foundation for Cary to be a nationally recognized community for its quality of life.
