This Month's Headlines:

Celebrate the Arts!

Join us for the 27th Annual Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on April 25 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Nestled under the shady canopy of Bond Park, Spring Daze features over 170 North Carolina artists, live music on four stages, delicious festival food and beverages, a Kids World, and cultural arts exhibits. We’ll also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with activities, giveaways, and education about staying green in Cary (hint: bring your refillable water bottle)! New this year, Spring Daze will host a beer garden featuring local NC breweries. Did you know? This year’s Spring Daze art work, entitled Springtide Wash, was created by Isabella Johnson, a junior at Cary High School. You can find her art on Spring Daze merchandise, including t-shirts, posters, booklets, and more! www.townofcary.org/springdaze

Keep up with Recalls

Each year, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issues around 500 recalls. You could have recalled products in your home that could be endangering the health and safety of your family—including smoke alarms, appliances, electronic devices, furniture, clothing, and children’s toys. There are a couple of ways to know if you own recalled products:

(1) Register eligible products online and recall notices will be automatically sent to the address you provide.

(2) Visit www.cpsc.gov to view the most current recalls or search for older ones, and www.recalls.gov for a complete listing of all recalled products including food, medicines, automobiles, and cosmetics.

Keep your family safe and stay informed!

Join us in the Garden!

There are so many ways to go green this spring! From volunteer days at our urban organic teaching farm to open house events at our community garden—we’re here to connect the community with the food we eat and the birds, bees, and butterflies that pollinate our landscapes! www.townofcary.org/communitygardens

Conservation Corner

Protect our Waterways
While helpful to lawns, rain can wash fertilizer and other chemicals into storm drains that lead directly to streams. Protect our waterways by applying lawn and garden products per directions and sweeping what falls on driveways and sidewalks back onto the lawn. Visit www.townofcary.org/stormwater to learn more!

Spring Cleaning
Are you correctly disposing of items that can’t be reused or that are considered hazardous? Furniture and other bulky trash can be dropped off at the Citizen’s Convenience Center. For curbside collection, visit services.townofcary.org or call 311. Fees may apply. Pesticides, solvents, and other household hazardous waste (HHW) should be taken to a Wake County collection site or Chatham County collection event. Find more at www.townofcary.org/collects.

Share With Us!

Citizens and businesses are encouraged to share their budget priorities with the Town at any point in the year, and we’ll share what we hear with Town Council through quarterly reporting. The Town’s budget runs from July 1 through June 30. Let us hear from you! www.townofcary.org/budget
