Birthday Reminder

Mark your calendars! In April 2021, Cary will turn 150 years old! To celebrate, we are planning opportunities to honor Cary's past, engage all citizens in the present, and excite our community about the future. Follow updates about the celebration on our webpage at www.townofcary.org/cary150. Let's celebrate!

Loose Leaves

Loose leaves still in the yard? While scheduled collections run through January, leaves can always be added to compost piles or left in natural areas. Additionally, they can placed in reusable yard waste containers or paper bags for your weekly yard waste collection. And for large piles at the curb, collection by request at no charge begins February 1 and runs through March 2021. Call 311 or visit services.townofcary.org to make a request.

Recycling Resolutions

Keep it loose! Always place items straight in your recycling cart, loose never bagged. And, remember, plastic bags cannot be recycled in our program. Consider taking these back to the retailer or to a local recycling drop-off bin. To find a location for drop-off, search by zip code at www.plasticfilmrecycling.org. And when in doubt, throw it out! Search items with the Waste Wizard at www.townofcary.org/collects.

Reminder: Compost Your Holiday Greenery

Place Christmas trees and other natural decorations at the curb by 7 a.m. for your weekly yard waste collection or, drop it off at the Citizen’s Convenience Center. Either way, it will be composted along with all of our yard waste. Remember, never include artificial materials like lights, wires, and ornaments.

Programs & Events

While many in-person Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department classes, events, and programs are canceled until further notice and facilities remain closed to the public, we look forward to connecting with you in other ways.
