Creepy Contaminants
Candy wrappers and plastic cups and plates are all creepy contaminants in our recycling. Please keep these out of your recycling cart and only include accepted items. Search items for proper disposal using the Waste Wizard feature of Cary Collects at townofcary.org/collects.

Loose Leaves
Starting November 1, we’ll collect loose leaves from your street twice before Christmas at no charge. To ensure collection:

  • Place leaves along the curb by 7 a.m. on the first day of your collection period.
  • Keep piles out of the street, away from mailboxes and fire hydrants, and off storm drains and water meters.
  • Keep rocks, branches, and litter out of piles.

Got more leaves? If collection has passed, leaves placed inside reusable containers with handles (maximum 32 gallon container, 25 pounds each) or paper bags (25 pounds max) can be included in your regular weekly yard waste for pickup.

Loose Leaf Schedule @ Cary Collects
Knowing when we’ll be collecting at your curb is just a click away at townofcary.org/collects. And, print or add your collection schedule to your personal iCal, Google, or Outlook calendar. You can also set collection day notifications, even during holiday changes. Download the free app for your mobile device today!

Keep Your Water Meter Accessible

Water meters contain the radio and transmitter that report your usage. Please keep mulch, shrubs, grass, vehicles, and other objects off the meter lids to ensure data flows consistently and reflects accurate usage. A clear area also helps staff access the meter for routine maintenance and to address water emergencies.
