Stormwater System Assessment Underway
This fall, Cary will conduct a condition assessment and cleaning program of a portion of its stormwater infrastructure. The project utilizes innovative Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) to inspect and record stormwater pipes and box observations on public property in the areas of Chatham Street to Old Apex, Maynard, and Kildaire Farm Road. Cleaning will be performed as necessary to allow the inspection camera to pass through the pipe and provide an unobstructed view of the pipe. If you live in the project area, you may see contractor trucks parked for a short term on the side of the road, and personnel accessing Cary Stormwater Infrastructure. To learn more, visit carync.gov/stormwater

NW Maynard Road Sidewalk And Water Line

In Oct., contractors will begin installing approximately 2/3 mile of 24-inch water line to increase and reinforce water transmission capacity to Cary’s central pressure zone. This new main will parallel the existing 12-inch line between High House Road and Old Apex Road. The proposed sidewalk will close a 1,700 ft. gap of sidewalk on the east side of NW Maynard Road and provide continuous sidewalk access from High House Road to Old Apex Road. Construction will involve lane closures on High House and NW Maynard Road and is anticipated to take 12 months to complete. It is expected that lane closures, restricted traffic movements at intersections, temporary speed limit reductions, and night and/or weekend work will be needed to safely complete the project. carync.gov/waterprojects
